RE: Lilly

She’ll be pleased when I tell her.

Lilly is doing better on the leg today.

Well, Lilly was doing great until this morning. That’s when I think she
might have sprained the soft tissue. I don’t think she hurt the hardware at
all, and there’s little swelling if any. She’s just reluctant again to bear
weight on that leg after doing so more and more since Friday.

The only reason for my mentioning this incident is to point out something
I’d think GCVS would know automatically. If you shave the whole hind quarter
(including the genital area) before surgery, what do you think will happen
when the hair starts growing back? Yep, it itches like mad! If you’re a girl
dog, all your instincts are screaming to run from the itch. Now you know how
Lilly aggravated her knee. Despite her handler’s reassurance, she got
frantic for a while. Fortunately, Aloe Vera cream really helps. You should
consider making that part of the post-op kit. Lilly is sleeping comfortably.

By the way Marsha, Dr. Beale said you should have no problem removing the
staples. How does a week from tomorrow sound?
